Fury Road is one long chase with no brakes. These eight scratch the same itch: wastelands, hunted crews, and leads who refuse to go quietly.

Number one is the movie everyone skipped, and I'll defend it forever.

  1. 8Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster
A desert scavenger story that's basically a remix.
Sand, junk, a scrappy hero fleeing across a wasteland. Sound familiar? It's also a 1977 remix in new boots, which is why it scores 8.9 but my take is 7.5.
  2. 7X-Men: Days of Future Past poster
Its ruined-future scenes carry real Fury Road dread.
A burned-out future and a desperate run to fix it. Audiences beat 93% of movies on this one, though the time-travel rules need a whiteboard.
  3. 6Black Panther poster
    Black Panther (2018)8.9
Danai Gurira's warriors are Fury Road's spiritual cousins.
Fierce women running the action and a throne fight with real stakes. A+ CinemaScore, $1.35 billion worldwide, but the CGI finale looks softer than anything George Miller shot.
  4. 5Captain America: The Winter Soldier poster
The best car fight Marvel ever staged.
Like Fury Road, the chases feel bolted to the asphalt, not a green screen. $714 million worldwide, an A CinemaScore. The airship finale is the weak link.
  5. 4Serenity poster
    Serenity (2005)8.5
The scrappiest crew-on-the-run movie nobody saw.
A battered ship, a hunted crew, nowhere safe to land. Just $40.4 million worldwide on a reported $39M budget, which is a crime against good taste.
  6. 3Aliens poster
    Aliens (1986)9.4
Ripley walked so Furiosa could drive.
Sigourney Weaver leads a siege that never lets up. Made for a reported $18.5M, it holds a 9.4 movie.guru score. The slow first hour does test your patience.
  7. 2Terminator 2: Judgment Day poster
The chase movie every chase movie is still chasing.
Linda Hamilton is the Furiosa prototype, and the truck chase is pure Miller energy. A+ CinemaScore, 9.6 Guru's Take. Some of the kid dialogue has aged like milk.
  8. 1Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga poster
Furiosa is better than Fury Road. Yes, really.
Same director, same wasteland, deeper story. Audiences skipped it: $174 million worldwide on a reported $168M budget. Anya Taylor-Joy barely talks and still owns every frame.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least Fury Road. Wrong answers only.

$523.61 says someone in the comments calls the Furiosa pick a crime and still hasn't watched it.
