The algorithm keeps serving you the same three docs. These eight score big on movie.guru, and some have fewer IMDb votes than your group chat has unread messages.

Number 1 has perfect critics and a shrugging audience. I'm siding with the critics.

  1. 8You Had To Be There: How the Toronto Godspell Ignited the Comedy Revolution, Spread Love & Overalls, and Created a Community That Changed the World (In a Canadian Kind of Way) poster
The title is a paragraph. The movie earns every word.
8.7 on movie.guru, an audience score that beats 97% of movies, and just 123 IMDb votes. That's fewer people than a community theater opening night.
  2. 7Rite Here Rite Now poster
Fans rate it higher than I do, and they're right.
9.4 on movie.guru and an audience score beating 100% of movies. Only 2,363 IMDb votes. My Guru's Take is 7.4, so the crowd loves it more than I do.
  3. 6Musk poster
    Musk (2026)8.5
The subject is loud. The doc is weirdly well made.
Alex Gibney's film hits 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, yet only 1,088 people bothered voting on IMDb. Everybody has an opinion on the man. Nobody watched the movie.
  4. 5Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World poster
A poetry doc that hits way harder than it should.
8.9 on movie.guru with just 239 IMDb votes. It made $789,360 domestic, which in poetry money is basically a blockbuster.
  5. 4The History of Concrete poster
A movie about concrete shouldn't be this funny. It is.
9.1 on movie.guru, critics and audiences in rare agreement, and only 1,304 IMDb votes. More people have watched a sidewalk dry.
  6. 3The Last Picture Shows poster
Lowest gross on this list. Second-best critic numbers. Do the math.
9.3 on movie.guru, 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, 85 on Metacritic, and $55,986 domestic. That's a rounding error on a superhero movie's catering budget.
  7. 2Once Upon a Time in Harlem poster
Highest movie.guru score here. Somehow only 202 IMDb votes.
9.5 on movie.guru, 96 on Metacritic, 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. William and David Greaves made something that beats 99% of movies with critics. Two hundred people noticed.
  8. 1Black Zombie poster
    Black Zombie (2026)8.7
Critics are right, audiences are wrong. Fight me.
100% on Rotten Tomatoes and 84 on Metacritic, but its audience score beats only 48% of movies and IMDb sits at 6.5. History first, horror second. Adjust expectations and it's essential.
Change my mind. Rank these from most to least underrated. Wrong answers only for #1.

$58.19 says at least one of you types 'wait, Godspell?' in the comments before finishing the list.
